• Eastwinds Bohemian Rhapsody – An EAST COAST CHAMPION under Christina Gemar from Belgium, Australian National Top Ten mare and filly, and multi “A” class champion under International judges, such as Bruce McCrea of Saudi Arabia and formerly of LASMA. She is one of Australia’s most beautiful mares!
Bo has a pedigree to match her beauty. Her sire is New Zealand National Champion Eastwinds Axiom (exp), full brother to the magnificent Axplosion, and sire of National Champions in Australia and New Zealand. Axiom’s sire, senior Eastwind stallion Simeon Sa’ar (imp), and his grandsire Amir El Shaklan (imp), were two of the earliest offspring of the supersire El Shaklan, and have each made their own mark. Axiom’s dam, Amira Bint Esperanza, was perhaps the most beautiful Arabian mare we’ve ever seen, and is sister to multiple Australian Champions, including Espiration, formerly a sire at Eastwinds.
Bo’s dam is the exquisite East Coast Champion mare Essencia (USA), daughter of USA National Champion Ali Jamaal, one of the greatest USA sires of all time – producer of many national and international champions. Essencia’s dam, Espressa, is herself a daughter of the great El Shaklan, and has produced many international champions, such as Esteem (USA), one of the greatest European halter horses ever.
Bo has been bred to Eastwinds Abraxas for 2008.
• Eastwinds Kiss From a Rose – East Coast Champion under Lenita Perroy from Brazil, and an Australian National Top Ten mare and filly, in her very few showings. Rose is a rich liver chestnut standing over 15.3 h.h.
Rose is the last of the invaluable Essencia (USA) daughters, and as such is a granddaughter of the legendary sire Ali Jamaal. Rose is sired by Eastwinds Ovation (dec.), formerly a leading sire for Eastwinds. Ovation was unshown due to serious injury sustained as a yearling, but in limited use has sired winners at all levels. Ovation was a look-alike son of Simeon Sanegor (exp), perhaps the most successful halter winner Australia had ever seen, and a sire of significance in both Australia and the USA. Ovation’s dam, Halina Shaklan (USA) was bred and imported by Eastwinds, and was National Stud Show Champion at her only outing! The combination of Jamaal and Sanegor as her grandsires is formidable, while her famous grandams are both Shaklan daughters!
Rose is bred to Eastwinds The Bohemian for a special line-bred foal in 2008.
• Eastwinds Dance With Me – The oldest and most ethereally beautiful of the Essencia mares. Swanny is pure white and has a head “to die for”. An East Coast Champion, and Australian National Top Ten mare and filly, Swanny was Supreme Champion female at the Challenge as a yearling, under Mark Kerr of the USA.
As mentioned, Swanny is a daughter of Essencia (USA), who was herself a granddaughter of the magnificent and prepotent “greys”, El Shaklan and Ruminaja Ali.
Swanny’s sire is the superbly bred Espiration (dec), who was owned by Eastwinds throughout his show career, during which time he was awarded both East Coast and Australian National Championships. Espiration was full brother to Amira Espana (Australian National Futurity champion), and Amira Al Fujairah (Australian Champion filly), both of whom spent some time in the Eastwinds broodmare band. Espiration is also brother to the Australian National Champion Exclusive, however it is his exquisite sister Amira Bint Esperanza (dec) who was the star of this family. Shown once to win the huge yearling class at the National stud show she was retired due to injury, but has produced champion children and grandchildren at every level.
Dance With Me is in foal to Eastwinds Abraxas for 2008
• Halima Psyche’s Sonnet – After three long years of attempting to bred Essencia (USA) to frozen semen from Padron’s Psyche, we decided we would try to buy a daughter of his if we found one good enough. After much searching abroad, we came upon the fabulous Melody, here in Australia!
This superb bay mare has all the style and movement for which the Psyche’s are well known. Her dam is the lovely champion mare Bask Melody, a granddaughter of the great Bask (Poland) himself.
While Melody is an “outcross” for the stud, she will be bred to stallions which carry tight crosses to the farm’s main program. Her son, Abraxas, is one of our future sires.
Due to a shoulder injury Melody is unshown, but retains the Psyche movement and has been much admired by visitors to the farm.
Melody is in foal to Eastwinds The Bohemian for 2008.
• Eastwinds Ouija – This elegant bay mare was born and has matured during our “inactive” period. While her pedigree is intensely line-bred “Shaklan”, her phenotype is strictly reflective of the generations of her own strong sire line, namely; Ovation, Sanegor, Sa’ar.
Ouija is bay with virtually no white, she is tall, very refined, very stretchy and a stunning mover. Her first foal, which sadly died in a veterinary accident, was amongst the best ever born here, while her second daughter is retained and is now a yearling.
Ouija is another daughter of Ovation, while her dam is Axinitra, only sister to Axplosion and Axiom. The importance of this pedigree for future breeding cant be understated. Ovation was by a grandson of El Shaklan from a daughter of El Shaklan. Axinitra was by a son of El Shaklan from a granddaughter of El Shaklan.
Ouija has been bred to her uncle, Eastwinds Axplosion, for 2008.
• Eastwinds Coastal Breeze – This lovely bay mare was the first of her Eastwinds generation to return to the showring. At three years of age she attended four shows. She won her class at the National stud show, was East Coast Top Five, Australian National Top Ten, and also an “A” class champion. I must add that she achieved this result with little preparation.
Breeze is again by the “Shaklan” bred Ovation. Her dam is of predominantly Egyptian blood, being a daughter of B.A. Minstril Bay (USA), and our foundation mare Jasima, a daughter of A.K. Jabal Ibn Moniet (USA).
Breeze’s grandsire Minstril Bay (USA) was imported by Eastwinds in a partnership, to bring the blood of “The Minstril” to Australia. We believed the lines of this son of Ruminaja Ali would cross well with “Shaklan” stock. Later it was another “Ali” son, Ali Jamal, who proved the success of this cross. Minstril Bay is very linebred “Morafic”, (grandsire of “Shaklan”,) and is also a grandson of Pharrah (Egypt), arguably the most beautiful of all straight Egyptian mares.
Breeze is owned by Mr. Terry Hayes (Vic), and has been generously leased back to Eastwinds for breeding.
Breeze is in foal to Eastwinds Desperate Kiss for 2008.
• Eastwinds Heaven Sent – Exceptional young grey Spanish/Egyptian mare, so typical of her family. Pretty, with the trademark “Shaklan” topline and hindquarter, she is also an excellent mover. We hope to show “Heaven” at some future time, her younger full sister was champion under Lenita Perroy at the Classic.
Like so many of our mares, Heaven is of a bloodline which is exceptionally successful in USA, Europe and South America. Her sire, of whom she is a feminine version, is the El Shaklan look-alike, Eastwinds Axplosion – son of Simeon Sa’ar (imp) and Amira Bint Esperanza. Axplosion has been National Stud Show Champion, East Coast Champion and Australian National Top Ten several times (equal second on one occasion). At his last outing he was Supreme male champion under Jay Constanti of Om El Arab International. Axplosion is “double” Shaklan,
Heaven’s dam, “Made in Heaven”, is another classic grandaughter of Ali Jamaal and Simeon Sanegor, the bay supersires. Heaven’s “tail female” is to the Australian National reserve champion mare Bint Mohena (Germany), a FULL sister to Sanadik El Shaklan.
Heaven is in foal to Eastwinds Desperate Kiss for 2008.
• Eastwinds Lady in Red – One of the most dynamic moving horses we have come across - a heritage from her male line. Red is a compact, very correct mare, with good legs and smooth body. While not typical of the Eastwind band, her amazing movement and great pedigree are amongst the reasons she has been retained. Her last foal, an incredible bay colt, was kept as a future show horse and sire, but sadly broke his leg as a yearling.
Red is the first foal of the beautiful Bohemian Rhapsody, who combines the blood of El Shaklan and Ali Jamaal. Her sire is the US/Canadian National junior champion, East Coast champion and Australian National Champion, Famemaker (USA). Famemaker has passed his natural flamboyance and extravagant trot to his daughter. Famemaker is a son of US National Champion Fame, and Inschallah El Shaklan, again by El Shaklan.
Red has been returned to Eastwinds Desperate Kiss, for a repeat of her previous colt.
• Eastwinds Bohemian Kiss – Another of the unshown generation, Zoe is full sister to our outstanding colt, Eastwinds The Bohemian. Zoe carries TWO crosses to the exceptional imported mare Essencia (USA), the only daughter of the great Ali Jamaal to be imported into this country. In appearance, Zoe is a slightly more compact version of her famous grandmother, with the same head and excellent conformation.
Zoe is a daughter of our charismatic Eastwinds Desperate Kiss, a horse bred to be a sire. Kiss (still to be shown) is a son of East Coast and Australian National Champion Desperado, while his dam, the East Coast Champion Eastwinds Kiss From a Rose, is a granddaughter of Sanegor and Ali Jamaal. The combination of Desperado, Sanegor and Ali Jamaal in his immediate pedigree makes Kiss an incomparable breeding force. Each of these great stallions have proven themselves in the showring and the breeding barn, producing offspring which are often of a remarkably similar quality.
Zoe’s dam is the exquisite Eastwinds Bohemian Rhapsody, also an East Coast Champion, whose sire, Axiom is a N.Z National Champion, and whose dam Essencia (USA) is an East Coast Champion and reserve Champion.
Zoe has been bred to her “great uncle”, Axplosion, brother to Axiom.
